Boo, the Senior Beagle

OHEA receives daily calls concerning animals needing help. Our
volunteers do their best to give the callers information,
suggestions, and referrals to those who may be able to help.
However, sometimes our involvement goes further.

Early in July, OHEA received a call from a woman who was being
forced to give up her 9 year old beagle, Boo. We referred her
to numerous rescues, but all of them were filled to capacity.
Since local efforts had failed, we went to the Internet. Boo's
urgent need for a new home was posted on numerous rescue group
lists. People in surrounding states responded with ideas,
encouragement, and postings. No one wanted this old guy to die.
Jude Fine with the Senior Canine Rescue Society in Canada posted Boo on her group's list
site. Jane, one of her long-time list members and supporters of SCRS responded. Boo now
had at least a foster home.

The next step was getting Boo to Jane. Jane lived in Iowa and Boo
was waiting in Ohio. In steps the third party to the rescue,
Homeless Hunters in Iowa, a group working to rescue and place
homeless hunting dogs. Homeless Hunters had arranged to transport
two dogs from New Jersey and those involved in the transport were
willing to let Boo hitch a ride. On Sunday July 22, Boo was driven
to Dayton by Terry Turner and handed over to Sharon for the next
leg of the journey. By early evening, all three dogs were in Iowa
and Boo was safe with Jane. Boo had been neglected and would need
lots of love. Jane immediately provided for his medical needs
which included being neutered and having a dental done. We
anxiously await Boo's updated picture.

OHEA thanks Jane, Senior Canine Rescue Society, and Homeless Hunters for
helping this senior dog find and reach a new home!

UPDATE:

Boo's foster mom, Jane, has become his forever mom.
He's pictured here with his canine and human family.

  All of his health and
  medical needs have been
  met and finally, Boo is
  content and loved as
  every dog should be!
