| The Lady Fund |
In Memory On February 12, 2003, Lady crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The Lady Fund will continue in her name so that other special animals in need can be helped. We want to thank all of you who have contributed to The Lady Fund which helped provide medical care for this sweet girl . Lady continues to be loved and missed by her sanctuary care family.
The Lady Fund was established to help a very special Lady. This beautiful senior girl was abandoned by her family at the age of 12. They left her to be boarded, went on vacation, and never returned for her. Lady was later diagnosed with hypo-thyroid and Cushing's Disease. Lady was placed into OHEA's Sanctuary Care Program. Because of a reaction to the drug Lysodren, lady was hospitalized in June 2002 at MedVet in Columbus for Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AHA). She then suffered a reoccurrence AHA in January 2003. Once again, this senior girl rebounded with the help of excellent staff at OSU Veterinary Hospital. However in February, the combination of diseases became too much and Lady lost the battle at age 14.
The Lady Fund will continue to help animals with special needs. Some of these animals are treated and then adopted. Others must be placed in OHEA's Sanctuary Program. OHEA has many animals in our Sanctuary Care Program. These animals have medical needs or are unadoptable for a variety of reasons. They require special homes where they can live out their lives with proper care and lots of love. You can see some of these animals by clicking on the names below.
